History: Des Moines won the Class-A Western League post-season playoffs , topping Denver three games to one. Bruins pitcher Hy Cohen led the circuit with a 1.88 ERA. His performance with the Bruins earned him a promotion to the big club the following season. Cohen appeared in seven games for the Cubs in 1955. He then was sent to the Los Angeles Angels of the Pacific Coast League. After his baseball career ended Cohen was involved in baseball education in the Los Angeles area, and was honored by the Dodgers for his work in 1995.
