Aya, meaning ‘to fly swiftly, ’ was first born to chase Personal Recordss. Its reduced weight, enhanced flexibility, and breathability made it a welcomed companion to the performance-minded for tempo training or racing—10Ks to marathons. Its multitude of lacing options meant the fit was just right for a truly responsive ride. Reborn to a new generation of doers, this reincarnation is light, bold, and ready to take flight once more.

The lightweight road racer and long-distance specialist was radical departure from Saucony’s traditional design methodology.

The tongue featured a cryptic ‘Aya’ logo that references several mythological interpretations of the aristocratic name.

The most distinctive Aya design feature is the woven stability strip that runs from the ankles to the toes to reinforce the lightweight upper.

The midsole was based on a foundation of Maxlite EVA foam, with Saucony’s ‘Ionic’ cushioning system added at the rear for extra bounce, while the heels featured ‘Radical Decelerator’ devices and Stytherm counters.

Saucony

Saucony is one of the oldest running shoe brands in the world. Founded in Pennsylvania on the high banks of the Saucony Creek in 1898, just 2 years after the first ever Olympic Marathon. At the time, running had started to become a focus for serious athletes, however there were no performace running shoes on the market, this is where Saucony carved their niche.

“Saucony Originals” exists as a fashion line that brings back its historic and iconic running shoes from the 80's, 90's and early 2000's, which have now become popular silhouettes and cemented Saucony's place in sneaker history.
